International House was established in 2002, with a mission to promote international understanding and cultural awareness for the residents living at International House and for the community at large.
The mission was supported through the housing environment created for the residents which focused on shared spaces, opportunities for learning about others and their cultures and participating in events designed to showcase other countries and cultures.
Programming was created for and by the students to “Bring the World to Harrisburg”; the local community was invited to participate and to learn about the cultural heritage of the students living at International House events also focused on highlighting and celebrating the cultures of those living in the Harrisburg area.
In 2020, in a response to market demand, a decision was made to move International House housing to traditional apartment style living, available for rent on the open market. Several apartment options are available, studios, one- and two-bedroom apartments, furnished and unfurnished with short- and longer-term leases.
